Week of October 31st

Good afternoon.  For some reason I am not able to change my homework for the week.  So please look at daily posts in regards to homework.

Reading:  There is no nightly reading homework tonight due to Halloween.  I would like for them to practice their fluency tonight since that only takes one minute.  I did send home nightly reading sheets today. The Family Times went home today too.  Our story this week is called I Wanna Iguana.  All graded tests went home today too.
Spelling:  The spelling list for the week went home today too.  All of our spelling words end with "le".  There will be spelling test on Friday.
Math:  There is no nightly math practice tonight.  We will begin unit 4 tomorrow.  The focus of unit 4 is on multiplication.  The math test from last week also went home today.

We are at the end of the 1st quarter.  Report cards will be coming home soon.  For the 2nd quarter, the students have to be able to answer 50 subtraction problems in 5 minutes or less and score a 96% or better.

Thanks to everyone that sent in treats for our treat bags.

Have a Happy Halloween.

Tuesday

We will be taking a science test on Thursday.  We completed the study guide today in class.  Please help your child study.  If they know the information on the study guide, they will do fine on the test!

The spelling homework tonight is a word search.  They also have math homework on measurement.  Don't forget that it is a short week due to teacher in-service.

Have a great night.

Monday

I hope you had a great weekend.  There seems to be some issues with updating homework.  I've tried all weekend, and I can't get it to work.  This week in Reading Street, we are reviewing the 5 stories that we've already read this unit.  A Family Times went home today. It has a list of our new spelling words.  They are all review!  We will continue to review all week.  The spelling test will be on Thursday because we have teacher in-service on Friday.  Nightly reading and fluency will also be due on Thursday of this week.

All tests have been graded and returned today-including math.  Please look over them with your child.

Tonight they have to write their spelling words 4 times each.

Hopefully I will be able to post homework by the end of the day.  I will keep trying!

Have a good night!

Friday!

We survived another week!!!  The kids took a quiz this week in social studies on the compass rose.  The test has been graded and returned.  Today they took a reading comprehension test, vocabulary, phonics, and a spelling test.  They will all be returned on Monday.

We will be taking our unit 2 math test on Wednesday of next week.  We will complete study guides in class together on Monday and Tuesday.  Please review the study guides at night with your child.  If your child has not passed their addition fact test, they will get a chance again next week.  If your child has mastered their addition facts feel free to start working on subtraction facts!!!  The focus in unit 3 in math is on measurement.

In science we are learning about the scientific method and different tools used in science.  When we get closer to a test, I will let you know.

Interim reports went home today to all students.  Hopefully you will have a chance to look over it and discuss your child's progress with him/her.  I would love to see no check marks in the behavior section!  Please sign and return the bottom half on Monday.

Homework has been updated on the side for next week!

Have a great weekend.
